My biggest gripe with the weapons is that on the higher difficulties, I’m incentivized to pick the weapons that have the highest damage/bullet. Personally I like the combat in Doom or Titanfall 2 more, but shadow warrior 2 features well done combat without any doubt. The others mentioned, including Doom, are more once and done campaigns that, i personally feel, present superior single player, single play through experiences.

There are a lot of guns to find, but the trade off is that most feel the same’y to at least a few others.The level quality was also in my opinion obviously compromised by the switch, but this allows “infinite” content. Shadow warrior 2 is a serious sam style, mindless shooting game with minimal focus on story or level design. Shadow warrior 2 is more quantity over quality. All of the ones you have mentioned are high production values, hand crafted, high emotion campaigns. I don’t think they are comparable experiences personally. I played the Homefront SP DLC while thinking about it and have gone for BF1 to be going on with… I plan to pick this up, but I’ve heard the SP campaigns are actually pretty good in the current crop of multiplayer shooters - BF1, Titanfall 2, Infinite Worfs - so it actually has competition, surprisingly enough. I’m in a similar boat to you, always screwing up the weapon switching, but I still really loved the game. Using keyboard you can also press the number keys to switch weapons of course, but there’ll be a bunch of extra keys needed to trigger the five or so powers you can use. Two of the face buttons are dedicated ‘quick-toggles’ between the last two ranged and the last two melees used.

You have 8 weapons equipped at once, and on controller you’re using a typical ‘wheel’ system - but the game doesn’t slow down while it’s open. Ammo is scarce enough that you’ll be weapon switching a fair bit, as well as determining enemy resistances/weaknesses while they wale on you and you fumble for the heal key in a panic. Enemy counts are higher and there’s a bunch more flashy effects in your eyes. I think it is faster and more chaotic than Doom. I handled the new Doom OK, but is this faster-paced and more chaotic? Does it rely on being able to quickly switch out weapons or so button / key combos?
